Icarus Falconry has been operating within the grounds of Holdenby House estate in Northamptonshire since 2002 and was set up to be a falconry centre of excellence to promote raptor conservation and education by enabling members of public to come into close contact with birds of prey. Since opening almost two decades ago, the centre has evolved to become exactly what it set out to be and is now home to birds of prey from many species including some whose wild counterparts are critically endangered (Our birds are all of course captive bred here in the UK)
Operating under the management of Dave and Jackie Sharpe with our falconers Emily (on site artist!) and Osel (our relaxation into meditation specialist) as well as a dedicated team of volunteers, the centre is able to offer the best hands-on experiences in the country.
We’re are often on the look out for passionate volunteers to help care for our varied team of birds or animals; a rare chance to interact with everything from owls to vultures, newts to foxes and hedgehogs! Open to anyone from young adult to more senior folk, these positions are not filled lightly so be prepared to interview to become part of our dedicated crew!
