Black Kite

Eagles, Kites & Vultures

Black Kite

Milvus migrans

The most numerous raptors in the world, these kites can be found in almost every country of the world, with several sub-species across the world. They have a large wingspan to catch thermals but very small talons; a tell-tale sign of a scavenging bird who rarely live prey. Kits are well known for stealing food from other birds of prey even mammals such as lions on African Plains.
