Harris’ Hawk

Parabuteo unicinctus

An American species of Raptor known for their high intelligence and habit of working in teams of up to twelve birds; one of only two species of ‘pack hunting’ raptors in the world. Their main prey species vary from rabbits and hares to birds.This is one of the most commonly flown birds for falconry purposes in the UK today.

Harris’ Hawks are actually more closely related to the buzzard family than hawks and are in the ‘Parabuteo’ family (Latin for ‘like buzzard’)
