Barn Owl

Tyto Alba

The Barn Owl is one of five native species of owls to Great Britain and is certainly the most popular and recognisable. Feeding almost exclusively on small rodents, preferring short-tailed voles, this owl uses its exceptional hearing and silent flight to catch its prey.

The Barn owl’s colour may not seem inconspicuous but it is perfect camouflage. When flying against the sky, prey would find it very difficult to distinguish between the owl and the clouds
